I'm no expert but I did overwinter 2 plants last winter and just picked the ones I liked the best.. They were good producers the first year and stayed healthy over the Winter months indoors (NY). This year they didn't have enough time though since we had a lousy Summer.. I have tons of buds & flowers now, but too late in the season. I'm going to bring them in again & see what happens next year. Mine were a Jalapeno & a Cayenne.. but I hear peppers in general are good for overwintering.

You can overwinter just about any pepper you like. I've overwintered Hungarian Wax, Black Pearl, and Pepperoncini (annuum), a couple Thai (frutescens), and a Manzano (pubescens). I've half-overwintered a Chocolate Habanero (chinense), but gave it away as a gift....and the new owner killed it.
