those grinders are designed for a very different kind of "herb"

unless you're getting ready for a grateful dead concert, that kind of grinder won't do you much good. though if you ARE getting ready for a dead concert, those things are great.

To keep the seeds in.

the screen is to catch the pot, so the THC crystals can fall thru and be collected later. a friend had that exact same one. he got a lot of use out of it.

I think trying to use it for garlic would turn into a huge hard to clean mess.

I don't know about garlic but if you want to grind dried peppers then you need a cheap coffee grinder. they don't look like they will hold a lot but they are pretty efficient .

yes the coffee grinder is the best option for the job i have multiple myself they cost under $10 at most places
