Someone stuffed a bhut and some orange Thai in a plain First Class envelope and they got to me only lightly squashed. Tasty with viable seeds!

If you want to do it right, you will need a box. Standard Post (ex-Parcel Post) is probably too slow.

Priority Mail has small DVD boxes that are perfect, though your PO may not have them in stock. (They fold to hold either a single or double jewel box.) There is also a PM rate for 8 oz or less that saves over the standard 1 lb rate, but in either case a Small Flat Rate Box may be easiest.

"Next Day" is about three times more expensive than Priority Mail. Save your shekels and use PM. An extra day won't make a difference.

You're in Canada so you won't be able to take advantage of free shipping boxes offered by your postal service like in the US. You can buy boxes at a postal outlet but you'll save money scrounging around your house for one. I toss in some bubble wrap around pods and tape it up.

Up here, priority post is like ya, we'll get to it versus regular post ya, whenever. If it has to be next day, check UPS or Fedex for the best rate. If not, Canada Post priority will do if it's cheaper.

Regardless of carrier, it's a crap shoot as to how your parcel will be handled once it leaves your hands.

Use any ordinary cardboard box. Cushion the pepper with paper towel, bubble wrap or jwith ust some plastic shopping bags with some air inside. They should not rattle whe you shake.
