an actual orange hab won't turn red. those look like a red pepper that turns orange first. habs have a lot of different "normal" shapes, not to mention the variation from pod to pod on a single plant. when in doubt leave them on longer.

Based on your photo, looks like you "may" be growing a hab variety called Red Savina. It claimed the record for heat until the Bhut Jolokia came along.

Here's a shot of some ripe and almost ripe pods from a plant this year.

I have some red Numex Suave's that i grew out again this year. They began by ripening to orange, then i thought there was a seed mixup or a mutation, but then they ripened to red. They seemed to follow the pattern of the Red Savina's posted above.

On a related note, when you cut open a red Numex Suave, the Hab aroma is ferocious, even produces some of that tickly throat when cooking with them. But they have no heat

I agree with Bill..they look like Red Savina.
