Roasting Long Green

I just spent some of my morning roasting long green chilies (Anaheims). Oh, the glorious smell.

Sadly, they are store bought, as I wait for my own chilies to finish growing.

Propane barbecue and I throw some soaked chunks of apple wood onto the fire for a bit of smoke. Fresh tomato salsa for dinner tonight. At least the tomatoes are from my own garden.

I am jealous. Next year for sure. Right now I am over run with tiny hot peppers including too many Thai hots. too much work harvesting them and processing them. I am taking the pledge to grow only big hot peppers next year.

My problem with Anaheim is I never know how hot or mild they will be. I like the New Mexico types where I can tell the heat from the variety name. I have some of the XX-Hots. Big and real hot. What more can I ask for in heaven. haha.
