Light Green rim of leaves on my plant

Posted by pizzaburgers (My Page) on

Hey guys... have you seen this before? The rims of some of my leaves are turning a lighter green than the rest of the plant.

Any thoughts? How can I keep my plant healthy? I still need to go get some tomato-tone. I wasn't able to get it last week. I'm hoping its just a simple nutrient deficiency that I can solve with the plant-food.

best to keep the soil moist not wet. it's easy to overwater in our excitement. spring wasn't so long ago. :) a light fertilizer is best although less might be needed much like watering during colder climates. again, my first overwinter. other than that, pay close attention to the underside of all leaves particularly along the veins. there should be no white anything/ no unusually raised green anything...larvae/ no hole in leaves. the undersides should be as beautiful much like the top.

a limited response. more to be added by more experienced bloggers. enjoy and good luck.

the same thing happened to my serrano plants, multiple times. It started with the rims of the leaves, then then ended up losing almost all leaves. This happened twice this growing season and came back both times. I thought it was the FL heat at first, until I found weevel holes in the stems. I cut off the braches that had holes and gave them tomato tone. Now they look nice and healthy.

Your plants look good baically, as it's approaching winter I'd water less and only give a real diluted fertilizer if at all, let the plants relax for awhile. I give all my indoor peppers 12 hours of artificial light, a half teaspoon of Miracle-Grow Tomato food diluted in a quart of water every two weeks....I have 42 plants now and they all thrive on this diet---don't get carried away on miracle drugs during the winter season!

Thanks for the advice Zman. How often do you water your plant over the winter? I just picked up some Tomato-Tone and am waiting till the next watering to start feeding the plant.
