Quillquiña (Quirquiña ) is a Bolivian herb used to make llajwa.

I have yet to get my Rocotos to produce, but the Quillquiña were quite prolific! If you'd like to make llajwa next year I can send seeds!

Send me a PM

Here is a link that might be useful: Llajwa recipe

I didn't get an email from either Rick or Jackie, so I changed my settings to allow direct mail from members.

If you sent me an email from GardenWeb but didn't post it here, please try again.

Sorry!

I grew this herb this year. Oddest scent I've ever had. I didn't know what to think of it. :)

cmpman1974, Yes, the scent is strong, but in a good way. I accidentally hit one of the plants on the grow light and the rest of the day the house smelled as if it had just rained. I think you could use it as an air freshener. I was afraid to try it because of the scent, but it was really good! I make a dish called Ají de Pollo, which calls for Ají Panca and I used Quillquiña instead of Cilantro and it was excellent! I will use it in most of my dishes instead of Cilantro from now on.

The plant grows to about 2' tall, my estimate is that they should be planted at least 8" apart. They are not a pretty plant, but they germinate easily and they seem quite sturdy. They do not bolt like cilantro does, so you can use the leaves continually.

By the way, I have LOTS of seeds, so please, if anyone wants some, let me know. I'd hate to just throw these seeds away!
