My store-bought Shishito seeds are standard yellow colored

I haven't grown Shishito, but at the link below they show one cut open and the seeds are yellow.

The black seeded one sounds interesting. Do you have any pics by chance?

rdback .... That is definitely normal yellow seeded. I looked all over the internet myself by many search ques but could not find anything. Thanks.

the black seed can be from multiple things but first guess is it's pre mature and the seeds will not be viable .... if the seed looks to have a mold/fungus i would not even waste the time to germinate them

Armageddon .... The seeds are naturally black and very tiny.

I took a picture but did not come out very clear.
On the left are seeds from one version, which are yellow.
On the right are the the ones I am talking about ; just black and much smaller.

I think I know which ones I'd try to grow. the left looks more like a winner.

the seeds on the right are premature and no good you can try to grow them but i wouldn't waste the time or space trying .

Seysonn - Yes the ones on the left in your pic are the viable seeds.

I just finished seeding about 3 dozen Shishito pods and the seeds are the normal creamy/yellow.

For some strange reason a pod can look mature and the seeds however don't mature properly. It's really discouraging when you only have a pod or two and it happens.

As I said. those black seeds are tossed. And I have plenty of viable seeds(Yellow, creamy).

But I have to wait 3 months before trying to germinate them.
