nope... ;-) Maybe it was cos mine were really small with no meat, pretty much skin and seeds. I think.... maybe... I wanted to see if yours were the same. Other than that I'm at a loss.

Ahh. Ok. I think that was it. Yep. Same thing. It's just one of those varieties. Think about it... Guajillos dry almost the same way--- pretty thick flesh when fresh but dry to paper thin. I did notice that you can leave a Chilhuacle on the plant for just a short period after ripening and it almost dries completely though.

I recall us also having a discussion about HOW dry one should dry peppers. IMO, depends on variety and how the dried pepper is going to be used.. For instance, anything that's going to powder, bone dry. But, let's take Guajillos or Anchos, for example, that are going to be reconstituted --- I think there should be "some" moisture left in them and have that leathery texture.

Once again, thanks for the seeds and I'll let you know how my mole comes out whenever i have a 3 day stretch to make some. ;)

Yeah, but my Chihuacle negros never have thick flesh even when fresh. They seem to be dry from the start. Yeah, left on the plant just a short time and they are dry. To me they just seem to be a pod of skin and seeds.

Can't wait to hear about the mole.

Hmm...I'll try to catch one that's fresh, but ripe. Cut in half and take a cross section pic. Then we can compare.

Are you saying that, even green, there's NO flesh?
