Jolokia Pictures from Oregon

| I'm a first time Jolokia grower who's learned a lot about these chilies through the GardenWeb forums. For the first go-round I decided to order 2 month old plants through the mail. After countless hours of research on raising them indoors, I decided on a setup that seemed to be both cost effective and productive. Thus far the results have been way beyond expectations and I've decided to post pictures regularly so other new growers can see their progression, give feedback, ask questions and give their own advice. Thanks, and enjoy!... |

I am getting ready to start some of my Bhut's today, on a gemination mat. Will not be able to go into garden until end of April/beginning of May. Will post pictures of progress if they come out Ok. |

bbqpdxcom, you never posted pictures. Here is my Bhut's just breaking soil. So far 3 out of 10. I'm sure some more will pop up soon. The first 3 took 11 days to emerge. Hope you can see them in this picture. Tried to make picture smaller.

Here are my beautiful little Bhut's. They were sowed into the planter on Dec. 26th. I moved 1 to a pot already, just to see how it does since I have so many.

| Out of all the seedlings I grew last year, the bhut jolokia's that I grew last year just seemed like stronger more robust seedlings from the get go, more so than any other pepper seedlings. Great looking seedlings Roper2008. Danny |

Thanks Danny. I don't start my other peppers until 2nd week of March. Since these take a long time to have ripe peppers, I started early. 7 months I've heard. |

| Hi guys, I have been looking for some Jolokia Seeds since last year. I bought some from an online store and will NOT buy from them again. The peppers looked exactly the same as the "Scotch Bonnets" I bought from the same store. Where did you order your seeds? I'd also appreciate any tips you have on starting the seeds too! Brian |

roper2008, What soil mixture are you using in the white cups? They look great!! |

I just use Miracle Grow Potting Mix. I give the peppers some diluted fish/Seaweed fertiler. They look yellowish in picture, but they are a nice green color. |

| roper: That Alaskan Fish stuff? I bought a bottle this year for the wrong purpose, but am keeping it just in case I find some use for it. Would be awesome if it would help my pepper plants! =) |

I use it on small seedling because it's a mild fertilizer. I mostly use Garden-Tone on all my vegetables, but going to try something else on my peppers since they are suppose to be heavy feeders. In summer when I'm in the mood, I add the fish fertilizer to all my plants, for extra boost. It's great for houseplants, violets and ferns love it. My sister and I ordered a 5 gallon bucket of Neptune's Fish/Seaweed, and split it. For me that's 2 years worth. |

Just transplanted from cups. Notice little Bhut upper left. I accidently used seed starting mix when it was first transplanted. Fixed problem, so it should catch up.

| Nice looking bhuts Roper! I hope you like fire lol. re: fertilizer for your peppers. I use Tomato-Tone with great results. The feeding requirements of peppers is very similar to tomatoes. Hope you have a great season. Rick Bhut Jolokia (JF)

Thanks, they seem to be very strong peppers. My other hot peppers are doing good, but not as robust looking. I thought tomatoes were not heavy feeders and peppers were heavy feeders. I have a lot of Garden-Tone to use up. When that's gone I'll try Tomato-Tone. I still have to figure out what to do with the peppers if I get some. |

| I use to use tomato tone or garden tone for my plants, but I have since found a different product that works much better. It is Botanicare pure blend pro grow. Shortly after I started using it my peppers really started taking off, I was actually impressed by the amount of growth that was taking place. They also looked a lot healthier also. You can usually find it at a local hydro shop, or just go to their website to find a local distributor. The downside is it does cost a little more then the espoma products. |

My Bhut's almost a month later. Hardening them off right now. The 2 in back are starting to form little flowers.

Last time they were under lights was March 1st. After that they were by windows in sunroom. Hardening them off slowly right now. Before that they were under daylight florescent 6400 or 6500k. These pepper plants are 3 almost months old. Glad I started end of December. |
