I am curious where to find seeds of the Trinidad Scorpion. I will be starting to put down pepper seeds and would love to grow this variety.
Also how long is chile seed viability?
Many thanks,
Dory (aka Pepper Witch )

Dory-

I just received my Trinidad Scorpion seeds for this year from Peppermania.com. Peppermania is highly recommended by most members of this forum.

Peppermania has removed their listing for Trinidad Scorpion (out of stock?)

Any other commercial sources, or willing traders?

Shelbyguy,

Didn't CVernon581 say he has some available for trade about 3 pots above yours?

Chris

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

at any rate...

any other commercial vendors selling Trinidad Scorpion? How about 7-Pot?

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

I'm also looking for Trinidad Scorpion and/or 7-Pot pepper seeds. Can anybody spare some seeds or help me find a vendor?

Thanks,

FYI, Jukka just put up 7 pod seeds for sale this week on his website. He's from Finland. See below:

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

What does a 7pod plant look like? And is a hot hot pepper?

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

It's a C. Chinense. It is SUPER hot. It's heat easily rivals Trinidad Scorpion and all the Nagas, Bhuts, and Bih Jolokias. Probably the most sought after variety currently (at least this season).

Chris

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

One I grew. As Chris says, very hot. They also have a distinctive pebbled surface.

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Very nice looking pepper and looks very hot. thanks for the pic John.

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Chris, thanks for the link to Fatalii's website. They had the Seven Pod pepper, but they wouldn't accept an order for less than 20 Euro ($29 US) so I'm still looking.

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Reimer Seeds (google for their site) has the biggest selection of peppers I've seen ever!! I had great service on BOTH my orders from them this spring, plus a back ordered item was filled efficiently as well.

Any time you are hunting for a specific variety, consider this method: google something like this (use variety name you are hunting for)...... pepper Trinidad Scorpion buy ....... Most of the time you'll find it - somewhere in the world!! Expect to pay an average of 50 cents a seed plus shipping for the exotics, no matter where you buy them, cuz it costs a lot to grow and maintain the seeds of rare varieties.

Also go to GardenWeb > Galleries> Great Vegetables. Someone posted a picture of this variety last fall... may have seeds to trade or can recommend a source.

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

I have not had very great success with Reimer seeds at all. Their germination rates I have experienced were not so great, not even around 50%. And even if it germinates I would not count on them being true to the variety of seed they gave given, i've had it happen, I'm sure many others have had this happen also. If anything I recommend is tomatogrowers.com They are excellent and I have reported excellent germination rates with them, extremely fast shipping and very reasonable prices, try it out!

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Was it the bird that did this to my tangerine Pimentos?
It carried away some and chewed a few off the plant before I scared it away.GRRRRrrrrrr!

Yesterday was a holiday.No mail.

I'm going crazy,I have a bunch of stuff comming in any day now from a couple trades,a seed bank and a friend who talks to birds.

I've got pots all set up waiting to make some pepper plants nice and comfortable.

Baught some more 15 gal. nursery pots too (they are plastic.Should I have gotten aspestace pots so they won't melt?).

Good thing the lots pretty empty.I might need it by the time summer is over.
100+ plants overwintered and a lot have pods right now.

Yellow manzano buds all opened up yesterday. At least a dozen buds per plant.Whooo Hoooo!
They like the trellis I put them on better than the cage.
We are getting rain for a day then more Sat.
I hope the buds don't drop.

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Jim, first of all, why have you used three different user names on this forum? Second, as you invited, I bothered to go to your website, and sadly, what you told us above is not true. There ARE seeds and plants for sale there under a large banner that reads: "FOR SALE!" Then it names several varieties and gives your contact information. Your catering service is also advertised there, including your menu. Also your salsa is for sale there. You have a problem with truthfulness, and your apologies don't change that fact. I feel you are greatly underestimating the sophistication of the members of this forum.

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Ok guys,

The more people respond to this guy the longer it will stay on the top page. I'm guilty too, but if we just ignore the posts they will drop off. Rather quickly at that because people are getting excited about the upcoming grow season.

So if you feel the urge to repond.. just take a deep breath, inhale some of cmpman's serious dried heat and go look at some of Smokemaster's pepper porn. You'll feel better.

 o

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

But where oh where is the mention of some of the proceeds going to the hungry children? :) The economy is terrible and I'm sure there are many in need. Did I miss the small print?

all I see is mention of making $$$. Was there a different message put across on the link you had before?

I will make no more statements on the topic following this one. Just keep in mind it's not too unlikely your neighbors may be growing these too. They are not that rare anymore!

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Jim,

I reviewed your website more thoroughly. I'll say it's very nice and I'd like to apologize for my comments.

While promoting business on GW through direct marketing is not permitted, it looks like you're heart is in the right place. Everyone's gotta to make a living somehow and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. If you're helping children through your church and organization, wonderful. I gave it more thought and I've got friends who do this commercially and I acted abruptly. it was wrong.

Sometimes sales strike a bad cord with us when we've done a lot to 'give away' seeds endlessly to many around the world so they can enjoy a hobby like we do. In turn, many have helped me too which I dearly appreciate. That's why I got so addicted to this hobby. The best thing to do is to 'give-away' or trade with forum members and do stuff on the side. That's the honorable way IMO. It pays off in spades.

As I mentioned, I won't bring this topic up anymore. I wish you the best.

Chris

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Thanks Chris. The kids got me into this hobby. I really got tired of buying overripe Habaneros (when I could find them) and decided to grow them. Then besides salsa and occasional cooking jobs I had found another revenue stream to do what I wanted to do for the kids. Plus discovering all these new chiles and the different flavors made it exciting. Then Hydroponic Gardening took it to another level of fun. I really hate growing in dirt now. I got over a pound per plant in 2008. Some plants had so many habaneros on them the branches snapped off from the weight!!! I will journal all these superhots from Germination to harvest this year. Hope it will help those who love superhots to try and grow them Hydroponically. I do not know how to post pics on here but would love to show the whole process on a post here. Even some of my first Hydroponic pics. Without any links of course so I will be in the guidelines.
Jim

RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

The best way to post pics on here is to upload your photos to a free photo server site such as Photobucket. From that point, it's pretty simple to copy a URL and type it in on here and the pics will show up as thumbnails or full-size photos.

 o
RE: Where to find Trinidad Scorpion seeds?

Here is a pic of last years Hydro Chile garden. Far right row is Bhut Jolokia, Middle row Chocolate Habanero and far left are Red Savina. 120 plants total. This pic is from early July.

re: Smokemaster, bird damage
Yes, 99.9% sure that's avian aggrevation. Had that problem with jals and habs last year. Try plastic snakes or fake owls. Also, real cats.
