stacking and plant guilds

Hi all,

I am very new to this concept but have been a organic gardener for about 25 years now.I have used companion planting and have also planted things to draw beneficial insects and birds to my yard.

My Problem:

I have 2 areas on the side of a Southeastern sloping hillside I want to try Plant guilding and stacking on.

Side one is planted right now to Blackcap raspberries.

Side two has bush cherries on top with alpine strawberries under them. Highbush cranberries, and several bird berry shrubs. The major trees are black cherry, and norway maple.

I will have other areas once I get going on these two.

The major area of my concern is the first one.

We have a problem with wild garlic/onion and PI poison Ivy.

We have dealt pretty much with them, but would like to have other plants growing there that would bring balance to that area..smitty
