buckwheat with other crop

I've been using a bit of buckwheat as cover, am new at this. The question is can I plant rows of something--say, tomatoes, squash, flowers, whatever in the same space? As the buckwheat re-seeds, will it take over the other crop?
It is about 3" tall right now.
Thanks, Maureen

In my experience, buckwheat becomes a perennial pest if you let it seed once. Even half-ripe seeds seem to germinate, so I cut it as soon as seeds start to form. It would be hard to prevent it seeding if other plants are growing in its midst - I'm picturing having to hand-weed it.
