Well, I hope this will prove to be a permanent part of the culture at GardenWeb! ;-)

What is Permaculture?

I second GARDENFREAK's request. I'm a newbie at this stuff and a little slow on the pick-up. Sounds GREAT -- but could we have some examples to help flush out the concept?

RE: Welcome!

I guess I've always been a gardener using the permaculture philosophy and never new it had a name. I do know that my neighbors make fun of me for my ways in the garden. Maybe I can make a positive impact on my neighborhood, hey?

RE: Welcome!

I am thrilled to see this topic as a forum. Thanks, Spike. I have a few links below. Almost every area has a Permaculture Center nearby which may have classes and open house days. Sometimes they do presentations at other locations. Sometimes they pick up and move, or close down, just like any other type of business, so don't get frustrated if it's hard to find just what you are looking for. Check with your County Agent also; they usually know where permaculture is being practiced. -- Marie
