The Big Project, Part 7

After a much-needed hard rain last night, took a cruise around the farm this morning to work on new projects and do a little foraging. My daughter was an able helper.

Here are the Gulf Coast native sheep and our Pineywoods cattle:

We've built a split-rail fence that surrounds the new permaculture garden. The entire fence will act as a vertical arbor for grapes and blackberries. (Thornless blackberries will be planted near the gates so nobody gets speared walking through the gates.) Here's the fence and a blackberry awaiting planting:

The fence will keep the sheep out of the garden and let them graze through the newly planted orchard:

Inside, we're just about finished with three grape arbors (they turned out pretty cool):

These are the vines that will be planted this week on the arbors. They are all suitable for this area; mostly muscadine varieties:

My daughter also snagged a few Asian pears off the tree this morning:
