Both are members of the Scarab beetle family and the larva of that famly look quite similar. There are a few differences, but it is not easy for someone that has not studied these larva for years to tell the difference.

Dude, not only are cicadas not in the same family, they're not even in the same order for crying out loud.

Wow, forgot

By the way, this site has everything you need to know about cicadas.

Jeez, I was so blown away that I forgot to actually answer the queston. First time kimmsr's said something shock me to that degree....and that's saying something.

They look quite different. Plus you're much less likely to see a cicada larva than a June bug larva.

June bugs belong to the order Coleoptera.
Cicadas belong to the order Hemiptera. (recently reclassified from Homoptera).

All that said, if you seeing the critters, can you post an image or two?

If not, please give us a good description -- color & size (length & width), and whatever else you see.

Kimmsr's brain skipped a beat is all. Happens to me at least once a day, lol! I'm certain that he knows the difference between a cicada and a June beetle.

Attached is a little fact sheet about common white grubs. MANY scarab beetle species start out looking pretty much the same.

Here is a link that might be useful: white grubs
