Brown grass

We live in Tampa. These brown spots on our grass showed about 3 weeks ago. Is it some kind of disease or just low temperatures caused it?

RE: Brown grass

hey .. welcome ...

tampa is z5???

how cold did it get ... for how long

do you know what kind of grass it is ...

you MIGHT find some lawn experts in ... if there is one.. the lawn forum ....

i do know.. that is what zoysia grass ends up looking like in zone 5 MI ... in late fall.. thru late spring.. until it gets hot enough to green up again ...

but i cant tell.. from your pic.. if that is the grass you have ... and it also looks like you have a second type.. invading from the right of the picture ...

RE: Brown grass

Sorry you'r right about the zone. My mistake. Tampa is zone 9.
We had few days with frost on the grass but it doesn't explain massive brown spots of dead grass.

RE: Brown grass

Contact the people at your local office of your University of
Florida Cooperative Extension Service since they are the best source of information you have available.
They will want to know what type of grass you have.
It may simply be the grass went dormant because of the cold.
