you were probably right with your word choice... it froze ... this thing got a slap in the face from ma nature.. lol...
individual cells in the leaf.. literally exploded due to ice formation ...
none of those leaves will repair themselves.. or live ...
but what i DONT KNOW ... is whether.. like many other type plants.. there are any dormant buds either down below ... or on the roots.. that might now grow ... just because the leaves got damaged.. doesnt necessarily mean.. the roots did ... you might get a better answer on this.. in the houseplant or cacti forums [or whatever and aloe is]
kim is quoting your 13 degree temp.. not saying that it was some magic number ... he said ... they are frost tender... and any temps approaching or falling below 32 degrees can affect such ... though one would expect the garage would offer some protection.. apparently it ended.. some time warmer than 13 degrees ...
they are a rather cheap plant... if this is going to bother you every time you look at it ..... just get rid of it.. odds are low for recovery ...
on the other hand.. if you are an experimenter.. then find out how to take care of it.. how to remove the harmed leaves.. to dry out the crown ... keep it properly watered.. and see what happens this summer ...
