Fire Ants in Meyer Lemon Pot (indoors)

Hi,

Ugh!

We've had Meyer lemon trees for two years and winter them in our solarium.

Fire ants were getting into the solarium and we noticed they were into the plant. We sealed the gaps in the room through which they were entering. We still see fire ants in the soil of our lemon tree.

I'm not sure if they've made a home in the plant or not, but don't want them that close to inside!

It is too early to put the plant outside all day/night. We have some Cimexa insecticide dust, but I have yet to discover whether it is safe to put into the soil.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the fire ants without compromising the plants or fruit?

Thanks!
sg
