There are so many bugs that the first time i saw them I thought it was just dirt from a heavy rain. Its been raining a lot and they are all over my romaine and leaf lettuce. Please help me identify them! I have a raised bed with garden soil. The piece of lettuce in the picture is only about 3 inches long.

Most likely aphids. Wash lettuce well & eat.

I believe those are black aphids, very common on tender leaf lettuce. I nice dose of horticultural oil or soap should choke them out. It is easily washed off for harvesting.
