Katydid eggs

Thanks jean001a! I think maybe they were laid very recently, even though it's January and Colorado. Earlier this month there were lots of insects flying around after several warm days. I look at this bush all the time and hadn't noticed them.

Here is a link that might be useful: in July or August, they're nearing the end of their lives. After their final molt, they're ready to mate. Males provide sperm to the females, who lay about 20 eggs in their chosen protected spots. Most female katydids lay eggs only one time near the end of summer. After moving on from laying their eggs, they might survive two or three months until the cold frosts of autumn kill them.
