This has been a devasting winter for many of us. We shouldn't be surprised to see winter injury or even death of plants that have been through years of winters unscathed.

I wouldn't do anything at this point. You may not know the extent of the injury for a long time....even months. It may be merely superficial foliar damage, or the stems and/or trunk and/or roots might be severely impacted. The latter would show up as splitting of the bark and wood.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

mine is completely brown.. down to the snow line ... you dont have much to complain about ...

wait until it buds out.. and starts growing.. then you will know if you actually have any dead branches.. trim those out ...

the brown leaves will eventually be shed.. or snip out the few you have... once it is actively growing ...

compared to mine.. i have high hopes for yours...

Thank you Rhizo and Ken for your feedback. I will take your advice and wait to see what happens. My concern was that the change was caused by disease; I did not realize the cold weather had done this.
