Boy, there sure have been a bunch of spiderling rampages lately, lol! Aren't they CUTE?

These are honest to goodness baby spiders (spiderlings), freshly hatched. The egg sac was no doubt in amongst the mint.

Well, now that I feel stupid, lmao, I'll just make sure I spray all my mints today with soapy water to make sure there aren't any other spiderlings running rampages. ;) Thank you so much, Rhizo.

We like to see spiders (of all sizes) in the yard and garden but in the house...not so much, lol.

No need to spray the mint. The spiderlings will grow up to be beneficials to your garden. Just shake the mint off a bit next time you harvest so they fall into the garden bed, instead of your kitchen.

Absolutely, calliope! I should have said that. I was still thinking about how funny all those baby spiders must have looked...appearing out of no-where.

I read once about the Chinese farmers who fashioned little 'huts' in their gardens for spiders to inhabit as a form of natural pest control. I know when I am hoeing in my veggie garden in the early morning, before the dew burns off, the little patches of webs are very visible and I can't bring myself to hoe through them. I'm not a dyed in the wool organic gardener.....but I seldom have to use any type of pest control, even soaps very often. The thing with soaps, even though they are the 'softest' form of insecticide, is that they will indeed kill beneficials. The reason they are considered a soft insecticide is that the residue is not toxic. If you hit it with soap, and especially if it doesn't have a hard exoskeleton, you may kill it. That's why good coverage is essential. You can't spray a plant with soap willy-nilly and expect it to work if an insect wanders on later after the soap is dry.
