Also, I have to be careful what I amend the soil with, we have raccoons and if I amend with bloodmeal or other stinky stuff my garden is going to get dug up. My next question is about my bean plants, you can see the leaves have some rust looking things on the leaves and I'm not sure what that is either. Spring here has been cold and wet, for our hot and humid Memphis climate, so I don't know if the weather is bringing this on. Thanks!

it could all be attributed to sunburn and cold damage.. however slight ...

my gut would tell me.. a recent transplant.. can never have a fertility issue ... unless they were such in the cell pack ... it just doesn't happen that fast ... especially with a recent transplant.. whose roots are not working properly due to such ...

i bet you were working on prior years planting schedule.. and ma nature said NO .. lol ...

most tender veg... do not thrive with cold nights.. i like to think of them as warm soil plants... and when it consistently dipping into the 40s at night.. the soil does not retain heat ...

germination temps.. are a clue to what temps a plant prefers ...

short of frost/freeze ... cold will not kill a plant.. but they just seem to sit there in suspended animation...
