 o
Ladybug or pest?

I found this on my eggplant this morning, and I'm not sure whether it is a ladybug, or just something else that looks like a ladybug. The attached link is another picture of the same bug. Last summer I mistakenly allowed mexican bean beetles to live in my garden, and I don't want that to happen again!

That looks a lot like a Lady Beetle to me.
The Mexican Bean Beetle, although related to the Lady Beetle is yellow in color not the orangeish red Lady Beetles are.

Something about the size and shape of that insect bothers me. Ladybugs come in a wide variety of colors and patterns of their spots, but are all pretty much the same size and shape.

It could just be the picture.

Could be the Asian lady beetle. See the link for more info on this house pest. It's an invasive import.
