trap crop covered in pests

TxCarol

I left a brassica just to see what would happen! Its now 2 yrs old, stem is about 2 inch diameter, just finished flowering beautifully. It is now COVERED in bugs, maybe aphids or whiteflies? Do I have to remove and destroy or if I leave it will it continue to trap these pests and provide food for beneficials? The plan itself doesn't seem to be in distress yet, its next to a huge climber rose which has no bugs on it (yet) and its putting on seed pod looking things which I wanted to see develop, I could also try treating with insecticidal soap, what should I do? Its not near any other food areas of garden but obviously don't want to run a breeding farm for bugs! Any ideas, thanks! in N Texas
