A pic would help with the ID, but failing that...
Try a spray of water every couple days and see if that dissuades the critters.

Thank you! I may try that if you don't think it would just send them to another plant. I don't care about this particular plant that much, I just didn't know when you use a trap crop if you leave it alone to feed and attract beneficials or use it like a "trap" and throw it away once it is infested. I'll try to post a pic if I can figure out how

I would give a good spray of neem oil.

They look like Aphids to me and a sharp spray of water will knock them off where the wee dummies will die because they are not smart enough to find their way back or to another plant. That trap crop is doing what it is supposed to so I would use great care in spraying anything that might kill off, or discourage, any predators that may be around there.
