What is eating my Eggplant?

This is my second year growing Eggplant. Both years they started out with lots of holes being eaten in the leaves. I wonder if it could be birds. I have checked and I don't see any pests on the plant. I have put down snail bait and did find one dead snail. Still the leaves get eaten. What else should I look for? Thanks Ken

Although it is good to have larger pictures, ultimately many pests can cause that type of damage. Pictures underneath the leaves might help, especially since that's where the pest probably do their eating.

As always, try to inspect the leaves (especially underneath) at different times of the day, and at night as well (with a flashlight). You want to find the pest(s), not focus on the holes themselves. Good luck!
