If there are ants tending the aphids, young lacewings are better at hiding from them (but then, ants eat whiteflies, so I suppose if there were ants you wouldn't see many whiteflies). If you get ladybugs, it's probably best to start with eggs or larvae, since adults will fly away.

I'll bet that ants are not an issue with the topsy turvy thingie.

You might try fairly strong sprays of plain water from the hose, especially to the underside of the leaves where the whitefly eggs and nymphal stages are. Aphids tend to congregate on the younger growth.

Neem oil can be helpful in controlling aphids and whitefly; it acts as an anti-feedant and a growth regulator. You won't see a dramatic 'knock down' of the pests, but once they've ingested the active ingredient in Neem, they will not be able to progress in their development.

Insecticidal soaps can be helpful, too.
