Why is my gerbera dying?

Hi,

I had bought a gerbera daisy about 45 days back. It sprouted new leaves after the first bloom dried off. For the last three weeks there are no new leaves and the plant seems to be withering. Is there a problem of crown or root rot? Any suggested remedies?

the scrapping on the side of the pot.. make the soil look like near adobe like clay ...

can you not get a potting media...

or at least some better soil ...

lack of such would make the basic premise... a failure of water management.. which you already suspect.. as that would be the cause of crown rot ...

That looks like dirt from the garden to me too. Garden soil doesn't work in containers, the products for enclosed spaces are formulated for aeration and drainage for a reason - essentially all are soilless these days, no dirt in them at all for best results.
