what the heck is this?

I found this creepy blob crawling out of a corner of my foundation and across my sidewalk. It stretched for about 2 feet and was made up of thousands of slimy worm like things with little legs. Each one was only about 1/8" long. They were all crawling over each other and the entire thing was moving pretty fast.

Sorry the picture is crappy.

Anyone have any ideas on what they are? Gross!!!!

I just love posts titled "what the heck is this? "!

This is a phenomenon not commonly seen, a mass migration of fungus gnat larvae. When they encounter a sidewalk (or similar), that's when we notice them.
