wood ticks

While the wood ticks took their time coming out this year (due probably to the cool Spring we had), they are making up for it! How do I get rid or atleast lessen the quantity of these things? Someone told me that you can spread lime on your lawn. Does anyone know if that helps? Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks.

RE: wood ticks

Ticks, like many other arthropods, need a moist environment to live and grow in so keeping the areas around the house dry is one step. Insecticides containing pyrethrins cna help but that material is a broad spectrum poison that kills every insect, including the beneficials, it contacts.
While I have seen some comments that lime might help nothing from any university indicates it does.

Here is a link that might be useful: Tick control
