Bats are your friends - leave 'em be. They are major insectivores and most of what they eat are things you want NOT to have in your garden.

Just make sure there is no open access to your attic through eaves, etc. and you should be fine. Establishing a bat house on your property is not a bad thing at all but if you already have them present in your neighborhood it is probably not going to make much difference. IOW, they are unlikely to leave their current nesting spot for a short move to a bat house.

bats are my best friend.. and i spend a rather lot of time enjoying watching them eating all the flying night bugs ....

i dont suppose i could convince you to enjoy them ??? .. as being totally beneficial to your habitat????

The bat that "buzzed" you was most likely grabbing a mosquito aimed right at your blood vessels. Bats hang around your place because you have yummy flying insects that they can eat.

So by driving the bats away you would be trading them for lots more mosquitoes. Is that really something that you want to do?

Leave them be - they're not destructive to human things. In fact, your idea of a bat house is a good one.
