Sunflowers....gone...AGAIN!!!!

For years I've been trying to grow sunflowers....something is always eating them when they just peek out of the ground. I blamed the rabbits & other critters. But I just witnessed the culprit that is nipping the seedlings..... it's a Cardinal! Now what! How to I deter that beautiful bird to stop killing my sunflowers???? Any suggestions????

I feel your pain. I tried to create an insectary in a portion of my yard this year and the only thing the gophers didn't get was my SUNFLOWERS.

You could get a Chow Chow -- mine chases away any birds that may want to visit. ;)

Netting, row cover, chicken wire tents until they've gained some size and are past the new seedling stage...
