could be stressed from too much water?

Too much water is as bad for any plant as too little water. The Sand part of this plants name should be a clue as to soil type it prefers, sandy and well drained, although I have seen these grow in almost any soil except one that is too wet.

That could explain it. I never thought of too much rain. Some of the smaller perennials and annuals are suffering from the rain, I have seen lots of moss and moldy lower leaves. I guess I figured larger plants esp. bushes and trees could take it, but maybe not. I know my birch tree is loving this weather. Well, if that is the problem hopefully it will bounce back when we get out of this wet spell. I would like to think it is something temporary and not a serious fatal thing. Thanks
