Looks like anthracnose.....a leaf fungus that is very hard to control or even prevent.....
The shrub should resprout new leaves unless it gets onto the stems and in that case you will find the shrub will suffer die back.

Looks like Entomosporium, a very common fungal disorder of several broadleaf evergreens in the south, such as photinia (red tip), Ternstromia (Cleyera), and Rapheolepis (Indian Hawthorn). Yours looks like Photinia, but cannot be sure from the picture. Any chance of an improved photo....one from which I can ID your plant?

I will tell you that leaf spot diseases are a major problem for Photinia. It's popularity has utterly crashed because of this and I've not seen it sold in any reasonably responsible nursery for many years.
