Something is eating my spinach

I recently started a garden with my girlfriend so I don't know much about gardening. I've been having problems with my spinach. Only a few days after planting them they began to sprout from the soil. I was very excited. Unfortunately they don't seem to have gotten any bigger since they sprouted. There are some tiny black specs in the leaves and there is also some white discoloration. Is this what leaf miners look like? The leaves also seem to have been eaten from the outer edge inward leaving only the stem. This leads me to believe I have more than one pest. To give a little background, I live in central Florida and my yard has always had a problem with ants. All kinds.
I was thinking that this is what is eating my spinach but I never see any ants on them. Also, the spinach is still very small so it's hard to even see if it was eaten or if it has some disease. I attached a couple pictures. Maybe someone can help me identify the menace.
