catepillars and weird bugs

I pulled off four catepillars and redish orange bugs from our tomatoes. Can anyone id them from the photos. I want to target them specifically. Also, the tomato plants have a series of bumps on the branches that weren't there a few weeks ago. Maybe catepillar eggs?

Help. This is our first garden.

Here is the catepillar shot.

The stem bumps may be root initials. Post an image and we can say for certain.

Definitely NOT caterpillar eggs!

Caterpillar looks like a tomato hornworm.

The caterpillar is Tobacco Hornworm (not the tomato hornworm), and the red/black insects are the nymphs of Leaf Footed bugs....who just happen to love tomatoes.

Google those guys so that you can learn what the adults look like. While you're at it, look up tobacco hornworm eggs so that you can destroy them. A caterpillar the size of yours had to have been on your plant for a long time. They're teensy tiny when they hatch and begin eating right away.
