ID English laurel pest

I just noticed the english laurel at our garden perimeter has holes, 'burn spots', brown areas, and other discoloration. i scanned for insects and noticed 1/4" to 1/2" long green insects (aphids?). There were not tons of them and i did not manage to snap a shot before they vanished.

Since I can post a single photo, here's the link to a small flickr set http://www.flickr.com/photos/flaig/sets/72157626932932428/ with several other shots. please advise and certainly do let me know if i can post any other photos that will help.

thanks in advance,
b

Perhaps drought stress?

Can we see more than a partial leaf, please?
