Brown spots on tomatoes?

Posted by shawski none (My Page) on

Does anyone know what's causing these brown spots on my tomatoes? All tomatoes don't have them (even from the same plant). I picked an unripe tomato yesterday and the brown will wash off but the tomato looks bruised (darker green) underneath when it does. (Though maybe I just scrubbed harder than I realized and wore the skin off). None of the google images I could find look like this (I have previously established my ability to google bugs is inadequate so I'm probably not any better at googling vague brown spots).
Thank you!

That appears to have rubbed against something, perhaps the tomato cage. And that was a while ago.

So you say it rubs off? Yes, I believe you rubbed the skin off!

I was able to wash it off with a soap and a sponge... But again maybe not sure if I just rubbed the skin in that area off. Regardless it seems to only be a surface blemish - but I was unsure if it was like a trail of bug goo that I should be alarmed by becuase it's about to get worse.

Thank you!
