We just bought our first home. We puin a new lawn and fruit trees all around. Now our fig tree has just died and laying on the ground and there are gopher holes in the gras! Any suggestions? I hearted about the solar powered gopher stakes that are supposed to deter them from your yard?

Where in the United States are you? The only thing Zone 10 tells anyone is what plants will most likely survive a normal winter in your area.
Have you talked with your state universities Cooperative Extension Service people about this? They will have much better information about this type of problem than most of what you may find on the internet which is fraught with myth. There is no evidence that those solar powered things actually work.
