Lilac leaves have turned brown

I planted a lilac tree this spring and due to all the rain we had in June the area was quite wet most of the time. The leaves have started from the tip turning brown and have since turned completely brown. They are soft not dry like fall leaves. I suspect the quantity of water didn't help. Question, do I attempt to replant this now or wait. Do you all think it will come back in the spring. I thought about digging it out and raising the area so it doesn't get as much water.

Thoughts??

Thanks
