They love anything in the brassica family and that includes brussel srouts, broccoli etc. These will not damage your other vegetables. I'm gonna get lambasted by the organic purists, but I'm going to say it anyway. The brassicas are the only plants in my food chain I will spray and I use Sevin, since it has a short life and the plants are seldom left in the garden until flower. Those pretty little white 'butterflies' (actually moths) are the ones who lay the eggs and floating row covers are an alternative.

Sevin for cabbage moths???? WHY??? Total overkill!

Caelian: get yourself some BT. It will take care of all your caterpillar problems. And it won't harm ANY beneficials.

Those cabbage 'moths ' really are butterflies, at least the little and larger white ones. I know that they are 'called ' moths in some parts of the country but a quick Google of cabbage moth will result in lots of images of those pretty butterflies. :-)

Those caterpillars are wicked pests! Caelian, be sure to look up pictures of the egg clusters so that you can smush them as you find them. I am very impressed with your observation abilities....spotting those baby caterpillars is a feat. Most folks aren't aware of them until they are much larger and most of the cabbage, kale, broccoli, etc. are eaten.

Deopsn't really make any difference as both kinds of critters are caterpillars which eat cabbage family plants.

Depending upon the number of plant you have, search-and-destroy missions work well. When you find them, flick into soapy water; stomp on them; or snip in half.

Yes true but I made another error I should correct.........if it is a looper, it's not the white butterfly I described. Some days you should just read and not post and this is one of them for me. Whichever yours are, treat them quickly. They make quick work of a plant and I've battled both for years.
