Look for Tragopogon pratensis (Meadow Salsify) as a possible source for these seeds. If not, post your picture in the Name That Plant forum, where someone will be able to ID it for you in no time.

IpmMan, the image that I THINK our original poster was referring to is no longer available. What we see now are the aphids (which he has labeled 'mites' in his photobucket page).

Attached is an image of the seed he was worried about being a 'pest'.

I'm not an expert but there are definitely aphids among the seeds. Insecticidal soap or a strong jet of water will get rid of them.

Marric, we KNOW! Kurango decided to confuse everyone by taking down the picture of the REAL seed he was wondering about. He had seen little airborne seeds all over the place and was wondering if they might be a pest insect of some kind. See the attached link for the seed in question.

The seed is from a common wildflower, yellow goatsbeard aka Tragopon pratensis.

And you are one hundred percent right about the aphids. There are swollen aphid mummies, aphid adults and aphid babies, as well as plenty of shed skins laying all over the place.
