Columbines around me seed profusily and grow in the dryer soils but not in the wetter areas of the garden, so maybe yyour daily watering is too much for them. take a good look at the soil they are growing in and see how wet it is.

I agree, too much water. BTW, the columbines here seem to be shutting down for the year. I imagine Arkansas would have seen that a few weeks ago already.
