After spraying with chelated iron, when can plant go back in sun?

I know that chelated iron can burn the foliage of plants when sprayed on plants in direct sunlight. I sprayed several potted gardenias in the morning shade and I'm wondering, when is it safe for them to be placed back in direct sunlight? Is it that the leaves just need to dry? Should I wait a day? I think I also read something that said the sunlight can counteract the iron absorption (not sure about this).

Any knowledgeable advice appreciated.
