Ornamental Cherry Tree with brown leaves

Hope this is the correct forum for this...

We have a huge ornamental cherry tree (unsure of specific type) and each of the 2 summers we've lived here we have a significant leaf die-off as you can see in the pictures. Blooms prolifically and then we get alot of brown leaves, but not all. Any ideas?
