i would begin the diagnosis of your problems with your soil and your watering ...

care to discuss some facts in that regard... including a few more pix of the whole...

it is very common.. for large plants.. to shed the oldest leaves ... and often.. when they get ugly.. many of us would probably just cut them off.. not really focusing on the lower foot or two.. on a plant that is 10 feet tall ...

No its not in concrete it just really poor dirt i water about every other day and its only in the morning so the leaves are never wet for too long which i looked up might be the issue. Here's another pic to hopefully help.

Wow that is some BAD dirt! You should at least mulch it some.

You can't expect much of anything to grow in that kind of soil. Is this at the foundation of your home or a wall of some kind?

That's the reason i chose sunflowers since they supposedly do well in poor soil and yes that's the wall that separates my house and my neighbors.So could the poor soil be causing the black spots? ,they only started appearing later on in the plants life when they were seedlings they were doing fine none had any spots whatsoever.

The spots reveal poor root function because the brown areas are dry.

If a plant has poor root function, the problems topside commonly show up after the plant gains some size.

Suggest you much, as has already been suggested.
Also suggest you water slowly - a trickle, for an extended period -- then verify how deep and wide the water went.
