The rationale for injecting the BT is because the SVB is found inside the stem. That is not the case with the hornworm, the larval stages are found externally on the tomato and applying the control in a typical manner, ie externally would be fine.

I understand all that calliope. I was trying to keep from "applying the control in a typical manner." LOL

It would certainly cut down on time, and probably product.

I'm saying that the bt one applies does not go systemic in the plant. It is not taken up into the plant cells, so it basically works through contact ingestion. How are the tomato hornworms going to ingest it if it's hidden inside the plant stem?

Ok.. I see your reasoning. So, like in the case of squashes, the solution doesn't spread "throughout" the plant itself?
