Can anyone identify what's eating my pumpkin plants? photos

Hi all,
I'm a newbie gardener, having fun so far. Unfortunately I've run into my first pest. Yesterday I noticed a few of the leaves had what looked like holes (although they weren't eaten all the way through). Today I have a lot of leaves with the same issue, some of them are even beginning to crumble (for lack of a better description). YET I cannot find the culprit! There aren't any bugs flying off of them and with visual inspection of each leaf I just don't see anything. A friend with some gardening experience suggested thirps, but he's not sure. Anyway, I have attached some pictures. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
