An expensive product that probably works no better then stale beer in a saucer which is fairly cheap. Slugs are attracted to yeasty odors so even some inexpensive yeast mixed with water would work to attract slugs for considerably less then $9.99 plus shipping.

I can't tell from searching what's in this one that is the bait -

the iron phosphate baits (Worry Free, Sluggo, Eco-Sense etc) work pretty well too - after consuming, the slug slinks off, stops eating, dies. Which mean no trap to clean, they just 'dry up' and go away on their own.

Hmm, I did read something about salt (I could be wrong) sprinkled round the plants in a solid barrier. When the slugs cross the salt, they turn pink and dye off due to dehydration.

No, you can't pour that much salt on the soil around a plant. That would be toxic to the plant and to the soil. Salt is sprinkled directly ON THE SLUG. Diatomaceous earth (DE) is used around plants, but is only marginally helpful in controlling slugs.

If you aren't familiar with what happens to slugs when you pour a bit of salt on them, you should try it. It's instantaneous, and not for the very faint of heart.

I've seen slugs survive salt pretty well...making TONS of slime and sliding(?) away.
